Flashback – Browse Week

In this flashback Friday we check out action in classrooms back in Year 10, 2014.

Annually a very special week is held for teachers: browse week. This is where we are encouraged to get out into the school during our free periods and observe our colleagues teaching and our students in different contexts. This week I took this opportunity to get into as many Y10 classes as possible. From PE to Maths to Science from topics as diverse as racial discrimination and the Little Rock High School crisis to percentage discounts and the thematic ideas in Romeo and Juliet. It was great to see the different spaces in action, from practical environments like in science and physical education to the more familiar mathematics and social studies classrooms.

The highlight of my travels was without doubt the positivity around learning. I flicked through over a hundred books and it was plain to see the pride that the year group has in their learning. There was no hesitation to respond with plenty of examples when I asked the students what they liked about the classes I found them in. Some photos from the very enjoyable journey are shared here.
