Safer Internet Day is celebrated worldwide to encourage the safe and positive use of the internet and digital technologies such as mobile phones, especially among children and young people. New Zealand’s Safer Internet Day is being coordinated by NetSafe, the online safety and security organisation.
This is a great checkpoint to promote a large range of resources and information on a topic that is vitally important in this day and age – and even more so given now that Newlands College has gone BYOD. Previously Sean Lyons from Netsafe has come spoken at the school, and cyberbullying and digital citizenship has been a topic of many Dean’s Assemblies. Take the time to hunt through these links and look at the resources out there for supporting a Safer Internet. This is a very relevant topic and will continue to be addressed throughout the year.
