Student Info for School Examinations

  • Arrive 20 minutes before the start of the exam and make sure you know the venue of the exam before you arrive. The office has spare copies of the exam timetable if you have lost your copy.
  • Bring the right equipment for your exam in a clear plastic bag. E.g. in most cases this will be a pen, ruler, calculator
  • Bags cannot be brought into the exam venue so leave them at home or in your locker. Note that a phone  cannot be used as a calculator in the exam but you are able to store it in a clear plastic bag (turned off!!) under your table in case it is needed for an emergency
  • When you enter the exam venue be silent, no talking at all.
  • You cannot leave the exam before the allocated finishing time. Eg Level one English is a 3 hour exam so you have to stay for three hours.
  • However some exams do have a minimum and a maximum finishing time eg eco 2-3 hours. This means you can leave after 2 hours if you have finished the exam and checked your answers. If you do wish to leave raise your hand and stay seated until one of the supervisors has collect your papers then you can quietly leave. You can’t leave during the last fifteen minutes of the exam.
  • If you have an exam clash then you should have been told by your form teacher how the clash will be dealt with. Please see Mr South ASAP if you are still confused about the solution for your clash.
  • If you do miss an exam due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness, please contact the school ASAP so alternative arrangements can be made. For example you may be able to sit the exam the day you return from your illness.
  • However, if the exam you missed is an internal assessment then the normal school procedures apply for missed assessment So you will need to fill out a missed assessment form and have evidence of your illness eg medical certificate or note from home
