National Spelling Bee Competition

On the 18th of October (last Saturday) I participated in the 2014 National Spelling Bee Competition. At first I was really scared about meeting the 15 other spellers from across New Zealand, but they were all super nice and felt as nervous as me. The 16 of us got to stay overnight at the James Cook Hotel and had a banquet dinner to celebrate how far we’d come. The competition itself was really intense with TV crews and everything there to record the whole thing. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely do it again if I could. It was fun getting to know the other spellers, and we were all really supportive of each other when it came to the eliminations.

Congratulations to Angela for this stunning achievement. To be in the top 15 Y9 and 10 spellers in New Zealand is just sensational!
