Inter-House Volleyball

In an average lunchtime there are no shortage of activities going on at Newlands College. Today for instance, a writer/artist group were furthering their plan for an art/literary magazine which will be published later in the year, the debating teams were planning for their upcoming debates, rehearsals for The Wizard of Oz continued, Komiti Maori were hearing from an outside speaker, the mixed touch team were preparing for central qualifiers, the Y11 literacy mentors were planning for meeting their buddies tomorrow, and… inter-house volleyball was being played.

The inter-house competitions run for the duration of the year, with students competing for prized house points. In volleyball today Totara conquered Matai, and Kowhai came from one set down to triumph over Rimu. The games were played with fantastic spirit and saw a large number of Year Nines spiking away on court, along with a number of keen supporters.
