The Year 9 students were treated to a shared lunch today with their peer support leaders. This brought an end to the Peer Support Programme, but the impact of it will filter down for years to come.
The Peer Support Programme begins at camp, where Year 13 leaders run sessions with small groups of Year Nines on topics like trust and building relationships in order to help install skills that will help them succeed at Newlands College. For the last five weeks, Friday has finished with a continuation of these sessions.
Peer support has helped to foster a very positive feel in the year group. They have been well supported by some outstanding leaders in Year 13, who will remain guiding figures around the school for the remainder of the year.
